Brazilian coffee is known for its smooth, low-acid profile and rich body, making it one of the most versatile coffees in the world. As the largest coffee producer globally, Brazil benefits from diverse climates and altitudes, allowing for a wide range of flavour profiles. Brazilian coffees are often naturally processed, enhancing their sweetness and nutty, chocolatey characteristics.

Brazilian coffee typically features notes of chocolate, nuts, caramel and dried fruit, with a naturally sweet and smooth taste. Due to the country's processing methods and climate, the acidity is generally low, creating a well-balanced and approachable flavour. Some high-grown Brazilian coffees can also exhibit subtle citrus or floral undertones.

The strength of coffee depends on how it’s brewed and the roast level rather than the origin. However, Brazilian coffee tends to have a heavier body and lower acidity compared to Colombian coffee, which is known for its bright, fruity acidity. Brazilian coffee’s natural sweetness and full body make it a great base for espresso and milk-based drinks, while Colombian coffee often has a more vibrant and complex profile.

To get the best out of Brazilian coffee, use the relevant coarse of grind depending on your brewing method. Filter brewing methods like cafetière or pour-over will highlight the coffees chocolatey and nutty notes. If brewing espresso, use a fine grind and dial in your shot to balance sweetness and body. Always use filtered water and maintain a proper coffee-to-water ratio (e.g., 1:18 for filter coffee and 1:2 for espresso).
