Our Brazil Dark Roast is roasted with more intensity to develop a richer and more caramalized flavour profile, with notes of chocolate, toffee, and walnut, this one is for the more traditional coffee drinker.
The natural process requires skill and attention to get right. The ripe coffee cherry is picked and left out to ferment in the sun, turned regularly so that no mould grows. The enzymatic reactions that occur here sink right into the seed (or bean), and leave you with a coffee that's full of funkiness and complexity.
The process historically was common in places with less water available, but you'll see it all over the world these days, in producer's quests to find wild results in their lots.
There will always be people who enjoy the darker style of coffee - it's up to us to give them something that tastes great, which is also responsibly sourced. Whether you're after a bit of old school coffee nostalgia, or just like darker coffee, this is the one for you.

Brazilian coffee is renowned for its smooth, nutty, and chocolatey flavours, often complemented by low acidity. Due to Brazil's warm climate and vast coffee-growing areas, Brazilian beans develop a full-bodied flavour that appeals to both traditional and modern coffee drinkers.
Escuro offers a rich, sweet, and nutty profile, with tasting notes of chocolate, toffee and walnut. This dark roast is perfect for those who prefer a more traditional, smooth coffee experience, where caramelised sweetness meets a bold, full-bodied flavour.
Escuro is sourced from the Fazenda Pinhal farm in the Sul De Minas Gerais region of Brazil. Owned by the Gabarra Teixeria family since 1994, this 914-hectare farm balances coffee production with environmental sustainability. Only one-third of the farm is planted with coffee, while the rest serves as a natural reserve, eucalyptus forest and pasture land, supporting local wildlife.
Strength in coffee often refers to roast intensity or caffeine content rather than origin. While both Brazilian and Colombian coffees can be roasted to varying intensities, Brazilian coffees are known for their heavier, nutty and chocolatey profile, like our Escuro, which is a dark roast. Colombian coffee generally has a brighter acidity and fruity notes, but neither is inherently stronger.
Brazilian coffee isn’t necessarily bitter but tends to have a smooth, full-bodied profile with less acidity. Escuro’s dark roast brings out deep, caramelised flavours without sharp bitterness, featuring toffee and chocolate notes. This makes it a great choice for those who enjoy a balanced and rich coffee without an overly bitter aftertaste.
