We're thrilled to announce that we've been recognised once again at this year's Great Taste Awards, taking home no less than eight awards across our coffee range!
Great Taste is the world's largest and most trusted food and drink awards scheme. The rigorous judging process involves hundreds of experts conducting blind tastings, making that distinctive black and gold sticker a true mark of excellence.
We're incredibly proud to have earned these accolades and to see our dedication to quality coffee acknowledged by some of the industry's most respected judges.
Here's a Rundown of This Year's Winners
After taking home one star last year, Rwamatamu has secured two stars at this year's awards. Judges were particularly impressed by Rwamatamu's clarity and complexity, noting its "juicy acidity, delicate aroma and stone fruit notes." They also praised the evident balance, describing how "fruity flavours initiate the journey, going into lower sweet tones and then coming back with that extrovert spice to end on a long and satisfying finish."
We're delighted to see Rwamatamu recognised at these awards once again given our given our long term commitment to Rwamatamu Coffee – and who knows, maybe it'll be back for three stars next time!
Colombia Geisha - 2 Stars
Our upcoming Colombia Geisha from Edinson Argote has already made its mark, securing two stars before we've even released it!
The judges praised its "inviting, juicy-floral nose, with hibiscus and strawberry coming to the fore" and noted "a wave of complex florals, delicate lemon acidity, dried strawberries and measured white sugar sweetness." They described it as "highly drinkable and supremely balanced" with "a delicious caramel note rounding it out."
This coffee will launch in October as part of our Special Release series, so make sure to keep an eye out.
Our popular Daybreak Blend impressed once again with "bags of chocolate, along with stewed fruit, prunes, and rum and raisin." The judges found it "brash and full of flavour, attractive and approachable, with a moreish bitter finish".
Two Stories has earned an award just about every year since its release and once again charmed the judges at this year's awards with its "mellow, inviting aroma of tropical fruits, golden syrup and delicate citrus." They described it as "silky, lively and bright, with plenty of natural sweetness".
Bosque Lya was highly praised for its "very satisfying smoothness and terrific length." Judges noted its "rich, round, nutty aroma" and commented that they could "imagine that as a flat white it would work rather well."
Escuro was also awarded one star and recognised as "a well-rounded single origin coffee, full bodied and rich with an element of intensity."
Rich Roast picked up one star too. Judges appreciated its "brightness on the palate offset by dark chocolate and cinder toffee, reasonably bright with a touch of red fruit acidity."
Sparkling Water Decaf – 1 Star
Sparkling Water Decaf also earned recognition, with judges noting "caramel-nutty aromas and a hint of marzipan, mellow balanced acidity, with nutty-cocoa flavours in the finish."
