Name and Occupation?

Christine Lyall – Accounts Manager

How did you get into coffee?

I have always been a coffee drinker but I would drink instant coffee. I started working for Rounton Coffee 7 years ago now and I've never looked back.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned about coffee since you started working here?

I find the whole process of the manufacturing of the coffee beans amazing, I really didn't know it involved so much work in getting every roast to the correct spec. I am sure everyone would be shocked at the systems in place and the lengths we go to so everyone can enjoy their favourite coffee.

What is your favourite part of working at Rounton Coffee?

My favourite part of working for Rounton Coffee has got to be the comradery in the team. Everyone is there to help and support each other, no matter what that may be.

What’s your favourite spot in North Yorkshire to relax or have a coffee?

I love to stop off in Studley Roger Deer Park by the lake with a flask of fresh coffee from Rounton Coffee. It is truly a beautiful part of the country.

What is your proudest achievement in coffee?

I'm proud of how open-minded I am to try coffees I would never normally drink, and I think everyone should be as they could find a new favourite brew.

If you were not working at Rounton Coffee, what would you be doing?

I would be working in a boring office somewhere drinking instant coffee.

If you could change one thing in the coffee industry, what would that be?

Climate and weather, without a doubt. It's no secret that coffee farmers around the world are facing increasingly unpredictable weather conditions due to climate change. While changing the climate is an impossible task for any one person or company, it highlights the importance of sustainability efforts in the coffee industry.

If you were a coffee blend, what would your flavour profile be?

Full-bodied, with a cheeky sweet twist.

What do you do away from work?

I enjoy lots of hiking with my husband and dog, as well as short breaks away.
