What are specialty coffee beans?

Specialty coffee beans are high-quality beans that score 80 points or above on a 100-point scale as determined by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). These beans are carefully grown and processed at origin, before being roasted to perfection to highlight unique flavours and characteristics.

What is considered specialty coffee?

Specialty coffee refers to the entire process from the coffee farm to the cup, involving superior quality beans, precise roasting, and skilled brewing techniques. The beans must be free of defects and exhibit distinct flavour profiles, often sourced from specific regions or farms.

What is the difference between regular coffee and specialty coffee?

Now this is a question we often get asked. The main difference between specialty and regular is in the quality and care at each step of production. Specialty coffee beans are meticulously cultivated and processed, scoring high in quality assessments, and it is because of this that specialty coffee beans are more expensive. Whereas regular coffee typically uses lower-grade beans and may lack flavour.

What types of coffee beans do you offer?

We offer a wide range of coffee beans, including Brazilian, Colombian and Rwandan varieties, and we are always adding new and exciting origins and flavours for our customers to brew and enjoy at home. Our selection includes specialty coffee beans as well as decaf coffee beans for those who love coffee without the buzz.

How are your coffee beans sourced?

Our coffee beans are sustainably sourced from trusted farmers and cooperatives around the world. We prioritise ethical practices and are proud of the supply chain we have with our suppliers. We ensure that each bean is carefully processed at its origin before being roasted at our roastery in North Yorkshire.

How do I choose the right coffee beans for me?

Choosing the right coffee beans depends on your taste preferences. If you enjoy smooth and rich flavours, a Brazilian or Colombian coffee could be for you. For a fruity and zesty taste, try our African beans. If you're still not sure, our team are always available to help you select the perfect bean, so get
in touch.

Can I order coffee beans online?

Yes, you can easily order coffee beans online from our website. We are so proud of the quick service we are able to offer our customers across the UK. We work with trusted couriers to ensure your coffee beans arrive fresh at your door.

Do you offer a coffee beans subscription service?

Yes, we offer a coffee beans subscription service that ensures you never run out of your favourite coffee. You can customise your subscription to receive your preferred beans at regular intervals, whether that’s weekly, fortnightly, monthly or every two months. You can also add more coffee
to your subscription to taste more of our range.

How is your coffee packaged and shipped?

Our coffee beans are packaged in eco-friendly, resealable bags to maintain freshness, as well as help the environment. To read about our
sustainability efforts, click here. We ship our beans within the UK using reliable delivery services, ensuring they reach you promptly.

Can I get decaf coffee beans?

Yes, we offer high-quality decaf coffee beans that retain the rich flavours of regular coffee without the caffeine. Decaf has a bad reputation for being dull
and flavourless, however the Sparkling Water method which is what our specialty coffee beans go through, mean flavour is not taken away from the bean. You can explore our decaf range here.

What grind sizes are available for your coffee beans?

We offer our coffee beans in various grind sizes, including whole beans, coarse grind for French press, medium grind for drip coffee, and fine grind for espresso. We’ve made it super simple to select the grind you need by having AeroPress, cafetiere, French Press and more options on each coffee product page. If your brewing method isn’t listed, get in touch with the team and we’ll advise you on which grind to select.

How should I store my coffee beans?

To maintain freshness, store your coffee beans in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Avoid refrigeration as it can introduce moisture to the beans.

What is the shelf life of your coffee beans?

Our coffee beans have a shelf life of up to 6 months when stored properly. For the best flavour, we recommend consuming them within 3 months of purchase. However, if you choose a fine grind, we advise that it needs to be brewed and enjoyed within 3 months, rather than 6.
