Seven-Day Submarine

Tasting Notes:
  • Mango
  • Raspberry
  • Bergamot
Roast:

We’re thrilled to share our latest special release — an extraordinary coffee from Basha Bekele, winner of the 2024 Ethiopian Cup of Excellence.

Expect vibrant notes of raspberry, lush juicy mango, and a crisp bergamot finish.

Seven-Day Submarine gets its name from the ingenious processing method used. After harvest, coffee cherries were submerged in sealed vessels in the local river for seven days straight. This slows down fermentation, giving Basha precise control to develop those incredibly complex, fruity flavours.

We're incredibly proud to be able to share this coffee and we hope you love it as much as we do!

Murago, Sidama

This lot comes from Basha Bekele, a third-generation coffee farmer from the village of Murago in Sidama, Ethiopia. Having learned traditional coffee farming techniques from his father, Basha has spent over a decade honing his craft on the family farm. In 2024, his work was recognised at the highest level when he won the Ethiopian Cup of Excellence — a remarkable achievement that speaks to the quality in the cup.

Vibrant & Expressive

Bursting with character, this Ethiopian lot is a real showcase of what makes coffees from Sidama so special. Upfront, there’s a bright hit of raspberry, followed by the juicy sweetness of mango. As it cools, a gentle bergamot note comes through, bringing a refined, floral finish. It’s a complex, vibrant cup that reminds us why we keep coming back to Ethiopian coffees year after year.

Advanced Processing

After harvest, Basha sealed the beans and submerged them in the local river for seven days. This unique method allowed him to expertly control fermentation in Ethiopia's intense heat, developing super complex fruity flavours while eliminating the risk of over-fermentation and unpleasant notes.
