Great Taste award-winner Daybreak Blend

A toast to taste: Our Great Taste 2024 award-winning coffees

We are buzzing to announce that we have once again been recognised for our dedication to quality and excellence. A selection of our most-loved coffees have been honoured with Great Taste Awards - a testament to the hard work and passion we pour into every single coffee bean.

These prestigious awards, from the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme, highlight the exceptional flavours and unique qualities of our blends and single-origin coffees.

Keep reading to read what the judges had to say about our coffee:

Daybreak Blend - 2 Stars

Our Daybreak Blend, a perfect start to any morning, has been awarded a fantastic 2 stars! The judges loved how the light chocolate notes hit your taste buds, giving you a smooth, balanced sip with just the right amount of acidity. They praised the juicy sweet treacle notes with hints of sesame, describing it as a wonderful, everyday coffee.

"It's a wonderful, everyday, yes-please coffee. What a great tease – the charming fruity acidity works on the side of the tongue but never too far, it sits there at a perfect level. With milk, the depth increases – it's like a good wine, it almost develops through various stages, light burnt butter, treacle and dark, dark chocolate."

Dark Roast – Brazil - 1 Star

Our Brazilian Dark Roast impressed the judges with its distinctly "dark" aroma and flavour profile. They appreciated its good acidity, restrained bitterness, and attractive caramel and nutty notes when enjoyed black.

"It has good integrity of flavour through to a long finish, especially when black."

Rich Roast- Colombia - 1 Star

Rich Roast from Colombia is definitely one of our most traditional coffees with a bold and rich flavour, which was recognised by the Great Taste judges. They enjoyed the very rich body and punchy palate.

"It finishes long and clean with good fruit and judicious bitterness. A very satisfying Italian-style coffee."

Bosque Lya – El Salvador - 1 Star

With a touch of stewed fruit and apple crumble on the nose, our Bosque Lya coffee from El Salvador presented a raw hazelnut flavour on the palate, balanced with mild sweetness and bitterness for the judges.

"This has quite an appealing aroma, fresh and quite fruity. It is smooth and creamy on the palate, with nutty notes."

Rwamatamu – Rwanda - 1 Star

Our Rwandan Rwamatamu was praised for its even and light to medium roast and richness. The judges described it as having juicy acidity reminiscent of plums and a touch of florality contributing to a pleasing aftertaste.

The judges commented on the light aroma of the coffee beans and how more of the fruity notes were present in the ground coffee. They also mentioned how the coffee was leaning into tea territory, so if you’re a big tea drinker, this could be the coffee for you.

"It is balanced, but has quite a short finish. This is a palate filler, with the honey coming through along with the dark sugar notes, but all gently and kindly."

Sparkling Water Decaf – Peru - 1 Star

Next, our Peruvian Sparkling Water Decaf, which has flavour notes of dark chocolate, cherry and brown sugar, delighted the judges with its tart notes and creaminess, offering a refreshing and pleasant coffee experience.

This decaf has been award-winning at Great Taste for the past four years, and it is really no wonder in our opinion! When people taste this, they are always surprised to learn it is a decaf brew as it has huge amounts of flavour, that is not usually associated with decaf coffees.

"Distinctly different; we liked the tart notes paired with the creaminess, an all-round balanced, very pleasant decaffeinated coffee."

Two Stories Blend - 1 Star

Last, but certainly not least is our Two Stories blend of Ugandan and Rwandan coffee beans. This blend captivated the judges with its evenly light roasted beans and bright, enticing aroma. They enjoyed the rounded taste, the persistence of gently 'wild' notes, and the savoury tang on the finish.

"Light and interesting aroma in the cup, lively and a little herbaceous. The brewed product is light bodied with a glimmer of funk, ideal for drinking black where one is looking for some interest in the cup without anything too challenging."

We are over the moon with these praises and deeply thankful to the Great Taste Awards and their fantastic judges for recognising our passion for quality and flavour.
