AeroPress

The AeroPress is a portable and versatile coffee maker that uses air pressure to brew coffee. It consists of three main parts: the plunger, the chamber and a filter cap. To make coffee, you simply place a filter in the cap, add coffee grounds to the chamber, pour in hot water and use the plunger to push the brewed coffee through the filter. It produces rich flavours and minimises bitterness, making it a favourite among coffee lovers, including the Rounton Coffee team.

The AeroPress stands out for its portability, ease of use and ability to brew a smooth, flavourful cup of coffee quickly. Here’s how it compares to other methods:

• Cafetière: Both are immersion methods, but AeroPress uses a paper filter, resulting in a cleaner cup with no coffee grounds. It’s also quicker to clean and more portable.
• Pour-Over: The AeroPress is faster and more forgiving than pour-over brewing, as it doesn’t require precise pouring techniques.
• Espresso machines: While the AeroPress can produce a strong, espresso-like coffee, it lacks the pressure needed for true espresso. However, it’s much cheaper and more compact.

For AeroPress brewing, a medium-fine grind is typically recommended. It’s finer than what you’d use for a cafetiere but coarser than espresso. When browsing our coffee range, you can select AeroPress grind before adding it to your basket. We’ll grind your coffee for you!

One of the AeroPress’s best features is how easy it is to clean! After brewing:

1. Unscrew the filter cap and push the coffee puck into the bin or compost.
2. Rinse the rubber seal on the plunger with warm water.
3. Wash the chamber, cap and plunger with soapy water if needed, or simply rinse them thoroughly.
4. Let the parts dry before reassembling.

The AeroPress Original and AeroPress Go are both excellent coffee makers but have a few key differences:

• AeroPress Original: Larger capacity, ideal for home use or brewing multiple cups at once.
• AeroPress Go: A compact, travel-friendly version designed for portability. It comes with a mug that doubles as a carrying case, making it perfect for camping, commuting or travelling.

Absolutely. All of our coffee beans are roasted to work well across a range of brew methods. When we refer to espresso beans, we simply mean beans that we consider a great starting point for making espresso, but there is nothing stopping you from using them with a filter machine. It all comes down to personal taste, so we encourage you to experiment and find what works best for you.
