Decaf coffee beans undergo a decaffeination process before roasting. Common methods include the water process, CO2 process and solvent-based methods, each designed to remove caffeine while keeping the coffee’s flavour intact. We only sell coffee that has been made decaf using the Sparkling Water Decaf method, which naturally removes caffeine while retaining the bean’s sweetness and complexity, without the use of harsh chemicals.

Yes, but only a teeny tiny amount. Decaf coffee typically contains less than 2-3mg of caffeine per cup, compared to 70-140mg in regular coffee. This is not enough to keep you awake or cause caffeine-related side effects.

For the best flavour, start with freshly ground beans, as this helps to preserve the coffee’s natural aromas. Since decaf coffee can sometimes extract differently from regular coffee, it's best to adjust the grind size slightly finer to ensure a balanced and full-bodied cup. Using filtered water will enhance the clarity and sweetness of your brew, helping to bring out the flavours. Finally, pay attention to your coffee-to-water ratio - for filter methods, a 1:18 ratio (one part coffee to eighteen parts water) is ideal for achieving a smooth and well-rounded taste.

Yes! Our decaf coffee is crafted for all brewing methods, including espresso. We are a bit biased, but our Sparkling Water Decaf is amazing as espresso! Since decaf beans extract slightly differently, you may need to adjust the grind size finer and tweak your shot time for the best results.
