Etago

  • Blackberry,
  • Date,
  • Redcurrant

Etago is an experimental coffee from Kericho County in the southern part of the Rift Valley in Kenya. Expect juicy blackberry upfront, followed by a dried fruit sweetness and a bright redcurrant finish.

Founded by Fred Langat and Sidney Kibet, Lot 20 Coffee works to organise farmers across Kericho and Bomet, enabling them to process and sell their own coffee without reliance on middlemen or the auction system.

After careful harvesting, the cherries are fermented for four days with Ava, a fungus related to Koji. Inspired by traditional Japanese fermentations used in the production of rice wine, soy sauce and miso, this process brings added depth, structure and sweetness to the cup.

Kericho County

Lot 20 Coffee works directly with farmers in Kericho County to help them grow, process and export exceptional coffee. They also provide financial literacy training, quality seedlings, and ongoing agronomic support.

Rich & Juicy

Expect juicy blackberries upfront, followed by a dried fruit sweetness and a bright redcurrant finish.

Anaerobic Natural

After careful harvesting by hand, ripe cherries are fermented for four days in an oxygen-free environment alongside Ava, a fungus closely related to Koji, which is used in traditional Japanese fermentations to produce rice wine, soy sauce and miso. This process adds a wonderful depth and sweetness to the cup.

Light Intensity

Light Intensity

Etago carries all the qualities of a great Kenyan coffee - bright, complex, and full of character. We've roasted it carefully to let its natural berry notes take centre stage.
