There are a few places that could realistically claim to be the birthplace of coffee. It is likely that Arabica first appeared in southern Sudan, and it was in Yemen that coffee was first grown as a crop, but it was in Ethiopia that coffee was first consumed by humans (initially as a fruit, then as a beverage afterwards). Their age-old coffee ceremonies are fascinating to watch and form a big part of community and family life in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian coffees offer an incredible range of flavour profiles. Most tend toward brightness and lively acidity, with natural lots often showcasing citrus and tropical fruit flavours, while the best washed coffees lean more towards elegant and delicate floral notes.
