Natural (brown) filters are unbleached and may impart a slight papery taste if not rinsed properly. Bleached (white) filters are processed to remove this taste and typically produce cleaner, brighter flavours with less paper interference.

This is really up to personal preference but we'd recommend rinsing paper filters with hot water before brewing. This removes any papery taste and preheats your brewing vessel for better temperature stability.
